Because of your dates
Mid-October is warm but manageable, with storms rolling through some afternoons. Sun cover matters more than cooling gear.

What first-timers wish they'd known
The sun, hot pavement, and afternoon storms can wear you out fast
Waterproof your essentials
You will be wet most of the day, so keep phones, wallets, and anything important protected. A waterproof pouch or small dry bag makes life much easier.
Protect your feet from the pavement
Walkways can get extremely hot under the Florida sun. Water shoes or secure sandals can make moving between slides and attractions much more comfortable.
Use storms as your reset time
Afternoon thunderstorms are common and can temporarily close pools and slides. Grab food, reapply sunscreen, or take a break so you are ready when attractions reopen.
