What to expect at this park

Dollywood combines major roller coasters, family rides, live entertainment, traditional crafts, Appalachian-inspired dining, and seasonal festivals across a large Smoky Mountain theme park. The experience is not just about rides, so leave room in the day for shows, demonstrations, food, and exploring the park’s themed areas.

Expect plenty of walking and elevation changes throughout the park, making comfortable broken-in shoes especially important. East Tennessee weather can also change throughout the day, so bring water, sunscreen, a lightweight poncho, and a layer during cooler spring, fall, or evening visits.

Plan around these

Mountain terrain

Dollywood has plenty of hills and elevation changes — comfortable, broken-in walking shoes make a noticeable difference.

Changing mountain weather

Smoky Mountain weather can shift throughout the day — sunscreen and a lightweight poncho can both earn a place in the same bag.

Show schedules

Dollywood has extensive live entertainment, and showtimes vary. Check the daily schedule before you start wandering so you do not miss a favorite.

Water rides

Attractions like River Rampage and Daredevil Falls can leave you wet — quick-drying clothing or a small waterproof pouch can help.

Ride storage

Dollywood offers all-day and floating lockers near numerous major attractions, which can make managing loose belongings much easier.

Seasonal hours

Operating days, closing times, shows, and festivals change throughout the year — check the calendar shortly before your visit.
